Again, so much time has passed since something happened here on our page. But luckily you can follow us on Instagram, which is regularly updated with pictures, video snippets and updates from us. Let me try to cut a long story short:
Early in the year we finally started with the “real” recording process of our new record. Max and I went to the rehearsal room, added microphones to the drum set, re-routed the guitar and bass amps into the mixer and laid down a dozen songs for the record “live”. No click, just me playing to the riffs from Max. After that we selected the best takes, divided the long track into individual ones and placed all into a digital location, which was available for both of us.
Max good friend Solvoid joined us in our journey and gave us great help and support right from the start. Based on the drum tracks, Max sat down and added a single bass and several guitar tracks to complete the instrumental set-up of the record. As for me, my body started to have some issues, which resulted in unplanned hospital visits and worse, I’ll get back to that later.
Solvoid & Max continued to pursue completing the record and with more time available to enrich things, like basic ideas with keys or even additional instruments, we never thought of during the writing process. My body was recovering so later this year, we could add the vocals for both Max and myself. And you might hear Solvoid as well as our kids on the final record.
We then decided, which additional instruments we want to stick with and kept several violin tracks, saxophone, accordion, some electronic beats, several shaker and -of course- a cowbell! Together with our vocals this record is much more diverse and colorful. And it sounds great, thanks again to Solvoid!
Everything has been put into the blender called Reaper (we are not connected or affiliated with them, but this software is just great) and with some fine-tuning we now reached the point to release our first full length record called ‘Unpacking‘ to the public. First on Bandcamp, later this year on most streaming services like our first EP. It took a long time, and we are exhausted, proud and happy with the result. We hope you will like it to!
